Welcome to ABODE

ABODE provides a welcoming, peaceful home and unconditional loving care to our guests through the compassionate service of our community and volunteers.

Our Vision

Dying is a sacred time of life. Love, compassion, and a home matter to all who are dying; those whom we honor and from whom we learn. We serve the community as an educational resource in the art of contemplative living and dying.
FAQs
Contemplative care offers an environment of compassionate presence. It creates stability, confidence, and accepting relationships with our guests. ABODE volunteers are skilled in personal practices, such as prayer, meditation, and art forms that develop these qualities, honoring each person's journey through dying.
Care at ABODE home will be provided at no charge. Operating expenses will be met by donations from individuals, businesses, religious groups, organizations, foundations and granting agencies.
Guests, who are believed to have just a few months left to live, must have a hospice managing their professional care.  They may be recommended by a hospice agency, family members, caregivers or other members of the community. See the guest agreement for more details.

Hospice patients will be welcomed regardless of religious, social or financial backgrounds. Priority is given to those in greatest need.

Trained volunteers will give round the clock physical, emotional and spiritual support at no charge to the guest. Simply fill out the application form and submit it to begin the journey as a volunteer with ABODE. ABODE is also a community resource for education and support of end of life care.
