Crossroads Doula Training is a small group experience for five important strangers who will come together to deepen their own knowing about living and dying. If you want to learn about accompanying people who are at end-of-life and their families, to have a meaningful and immediately useful hands-on learning experience, and to connect with like minded people, this training is for you.

You will learn about: contemplative practices, presence, the trajectory of dying, rituals, body care, grief and loss, language of dying, self care, medications, energy management, perspectives on dying from our Guests, their families, our volunteers, and professionals.

How you will learn: lecture/practice facilitated by ABODE staff and volunteers, small group experiences, observation/interaction with Guests and families as circumstances permit.

Certification: ABODE has created our Crossroads Doula Certification Program with a foundation in contemplative care, best practices for companioning someone who is dying and those who love them, and caring for self while caring for others. There is no universally recognized certification for death doulas. At the end of this training, you will receive a certificate issued by ABODE stating hours completed and topics covered.

Continuing Education: CE hours available for licensed professional counselors in Texas. Check with your state licensing board to determine eligibility. TX social work CEs pending.
